SECOND FIDDLE

"Ain't gonna play no second fiddle 'cause, I'm used to playin' lead..." -Bessie Smith

Now before I begin, when my co-worker CB comes through & reads this, she better see the joke in this post.

Lately I've been noticing that I've been getting some male attention around here at the j-o-b. Invites to go to the movies or lunch or dinner. Little comments that seem to be coming from nowhere. But what I'm also aware of is these men were all admirers of my co-worker/sistafriend CB first.

Re-Re AKA The Chipmunk

He's been asking me if I want to go to the movies with him. If anybody knows me even a little bit, they know I don't do movies dates with ANYONE. I've told Re-re this quite a few times when he's asked to roll with me but he's dying to see Iron Man with me, even though he's already seen it.

Now Re-re/Chipmunk has been a groupie of CB's for quite a while now, possibly a year or more. Not too long ago, CB gave him some tude and the evil eye and now he's wondering about my availability and my recent movie trips. Needless to say I don't like The Chipmunk. I'm sure he's a wonderful guy to his wife and 4 children but he's an all right co-worker to me who I'm not interested in breathing air with.

Willy

Actually I think I can claim Willy first but I dunno, he's got quite a few admirees around this place... A couple of weeks ago I happened to pass Willy and he tells me that "I'm the love of his life" and the flirtatious woman that I am says "Willy, now, you better stop playing with me" with a wink and a dip in my hard switch.

Probably in the same week Willy got on his knees and proposed to CB in the corridor. HELLOOOOOO!!!!!!

Mr. Senegal

Me and CB haven't come up with a name for this dude but she'll know exactly who he is if she reads this. About a week ago he asked me if I've been on vacation and I told him that I was working hard and just been busy generally. He then says, "You know, you have to let me take you to dinner some time". I replied, "Hahahahahahahahahaha! Have a good nite!"

Now Mr. Senegal went back home about a year or 2 ago and sent CB a postcard, obviously thinking of her even while he was away, about 7500 miles away!

********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* *********

I'm posting this jokingly. Me and CB are far from being in competition or vying for the same guy. We like 2 different types and we both know that most of the guys here are for entertainment (comic relief) purposes only. Except for that fine Colombian dude who sets us both aflame - WHOOOOOOOOO! The Dr. Ian lookalike-for CB and the 2 that I've got special love for ~*smiles & giggles*~. We actually have a friend who I always tell her falls in love with the both of us rotatively. She doesn't think so or maybe she just doesn't want to admit it...

"You must think that I am blind,
You've been cheatin' me all the time
Whoa yeah, you still flirt
And you'll notice I ain't hurt,
To see you with my chum
Do you think that I am dumb
Ain't gonna play no second fiddle 'cause
I'm used to playin' lead..."

Me Things...

I'm home from work still (Thank God) and I'm feeling restless. I know I'm not excited about going back to work tomorrow nor do I want to rip and run the streets of the Bronx. However I am bored...
With myself.

I haven't taken a vacation this year and I don't consider going down to my guy's hometown vacation time. We usually drive the 16-18 hour trek to Smalltown, South Carolina, which makes me think of songs like this and I want to nap the entire time I'm there. I'm a city girl! Though I do love the fresh air and natural beauty. After we drive the 16-18 hours back and my legs look more like thighs - lol - from sitting and retaining fluid, I need another vacation.

Today I've just been sitting and vegging out, watching talk shows and reruns of MTV and VH1 reality shows thinking to myself... there's got to be more! How in the world did I become one of those boring women with nothing to talk about except for celebrity gossip and complaining about my man?!?! I can't be serious!

So I went out to the park for some sun and took my journal to jot down the 10 things I want to do. At first I was going to write the 10 things I want to do before it's too late but really, it's never too late to do anything anymore. So here goes:

10. Mother a child... At 32, I don't know if it's my destiny to give birth but I know that doesn't prevent me from mothering a child.

9. Take a belly dancing class... At first I wanted to take another yoga class but I've done yoga, now I want to do something new...

8. Learn to sew... I can mend a pair of pants or sew on a button but I want to learn how to make a pocketbook out of a pair of jeans, make a hat from a shirt or turn an old pair of jeans into a funky denim skirt.

7. Learn conversational Spanish... It's crazy that I took Spanish from the 4th grade through 12th grade and can only speak and understand bits and pieces. If you don't use it, you certainly do lose it. But living in New York and especially The Bronx, I should already know it.

6. Attend Olympics 2012... Me and Mr. Senegal have already decided to go together. I don't know how my guy is going to feel about that but I'll get to that then lol... I was so hyped by this year's Olympics that I'm ready to book the next one right now.

5. Spend a weekend in Paris... I could do longer but the truth is after the 2nd or 3rd day, I'm gonna want to be home or somewhere else so 2 or 3 days is all I will need.

4. Take massuese lessons... Doesn't everyone love a good massage? I just love relaxation, stress relief, and detoxification and what better way to achieve that but through the human touch. Plus I could probably make a little extra dough on the side...

3. Start an e-card or a regular greeting card business... I am actually very excited by this. E-cards/Greeting cards with a cultural flair. I have so many ideas for this and I know it's gonna be hot!

2. Develop a regular meditation practice daily... I usually set out to do this, do this one or two times and then drop it but I would like to do it regularly, making it a lifestyle change.

1. Enroll in a creative writing course... I visit the Gotham Writers site about once a month but it's the money factor right now that prevents me.

*Bonus... Conquer my fears. One of my friends owns a home cleaning business and when she cleans someone's home, she removes them from their space, which allows her the freedom of getting rid of all of their junk. That's how I feel... like I want to be removed from all of the things and negative energy that prevent me from accomplishing the interests in my heart - do things without the fear of failing or not being good enough.

Random Words I Type

* I have been reading about Birth Order Patterns and it is so interesting. I often find topics that intrigue me and then I delve in, topics usually in the psychology field. There are 5 birth orders, Only, First, Second, Third and Fourth. Here's another link. I am so excited and enlightened by what I'm learning that I busting out with the crazies. This whole week, whenever someone has pissed me off, I've been calling them Third Born! or First Born! Of course they have no idea what I'm talking about but I just love an inside joke...

* I am so turned off by my on-the-job man #2. He recently received a hefty pay raise and he doesn't want his ex-wife to take him to court for more child support. In one way I understand being selfish with money myself but as a woman I don't get it. I always try to put myself into another person's shoes and I could be an ex-wife, struggling to pay for rent/mortgage, car note, groceries, gas & electric, gas for the vehicle, clothes, shoes, toiletries, all of the miscellaneous but necessary items and a few luxury items (mostly for the kids) all by my lonely, and he's bitching about paying a few dollars extra for child support. I got in his ass yesterday, I had to. I'm hormonal too! Last month he had no problem spending a grand or more in New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival but he doesn't want to give extra for his children, come on!

* I have another OTJ man that I share with CB and probably quite a few other co-workers. I wrote about him a few months back, in my Second Fiddle post. Well Mr. Senegal just came back from a voyage back home and he brought me back a drum. Haha sisters! He probably brought them NUTHIN', but then again I probably shouldn't be laughing.... Now I know that they have found anthrax in African drums some time ago and I'm doing my research as I type. The drum is currently tucked far under my desk in a plastic bag until I'm done researching. So far I think I'm safe since I will not beat my drum and I didn't make it but I'm still not taking any chances. In any case, it's beautiful and I loooove it!

* Taking mass transportation is probably one of the ugliest activities of my day. If I could beam myself to work for $4 a day, I would jump at it. I must listen to music and/or read a book to get through my ride faster. The pushing people, the folks hungry for the tightest seat, the people who like to lean on the poles instead of hold on to them (Hello, where am I going to hold on if you're leaning on the whole pole?!). Yet something amusing happened this week. On my way home, a subway dancer performed his routine, which I ignored. I just wasn't in the mood for watching him break dance and flip around. So after he was done, he pulled out his cap and went around the train for his donations. A woman pulled out a $5 bill and instead of putting it in his cap, she asked for change, $4 back. She must have thought she was in church and he was passing the offering plate.

* What was Luda thinking when he wrote "Politics: Obama is Here"?

Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b^$&%* is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap

I have a feeling that Obama secretly likes the song but he can't ever admit it! I'm cracking the hell up and shaking my head at the same time.

*I had so much more to write but it suddenly left my brain on my way to work. Oh well. Hope every one of y'all have a good and marvelous weekend!
